Button vows to overcome British Grand Prix jinx

London, July 4(ANI): Reigning Formula One champion Jenson Button has vowed to break his British Grand Prix jinx, and win next Sunday's race in Silverstone.

Button, who has lined up at the grid 11 times, has never finished on the podium.

"I have never celebrated in front of my home crowd. I have never been on the podium in the British Grand Prix, but I am going to change that this year," News of The World quoted Button, as saying.

"I know this will be the best chance I have ever had of winning at Silverstone. This is the best car I've ever had for this race and I am going to take advantage of that. I won in Monaco last year and after that, the race you want to win is your home one," he added.

The 30-year-old further said that his team-mate Lewis Hamilton will be the "biggest threat" for him.

"If our car is quick enough then Lewis will be my biggest threat, but it is great for the British pubic as they have got two British drivers in a competitive car. It would be great for the British public to have a British winner so if I don't win, I hope Lewis does," Button said.

"For the championship that would not be good for me, but for the atmosphere it would be a good thing, but I am not thinking about what if I don't win. You have got to be positive and aim to be on the top step of the podium so I haven't thought about what if someone else wins," he added. (ANI)
