Versailles, July 4 (IANS) Jyoti Randhawa stayed in contention at the Open De France with a one-under 70 for a tied fourth place and two shots off the lead at the end of the third round Saturday.
Randhawa, with a total of seven-under 206, is looking for his maiden European Tour win that would also win him a berth into the British Open in less than two weeks time, dropped two late bogeys on the 15th and 17th to fall two shots behind the leader, Martin Kaymer of Germany, who had an even par-71.
Spaniard Alejandro Canizares, who at one stage went to 12-under, had two late double bogeys and dropped to eight-under with a 73 and shares the second place with Englishman Steve Webster (70).
Six players, Randhawa, Robert Jan Derksen ((72), Francesco Molinari (68), Damien McGrane (67), Luke Donald (67) and Miguel Angel Jimenez (68) share the fourth spot.
'Those two late bogeys were a disappointment. I think I was playing well, but even the slightest of mistakes can prove costly,' said Randhawa, who has had a disappointing season before this event.
Of the other Indians, Jeev Milkha Singh shot 68 as he moved up to tied 26th at two-under 211. Starting from the 10th, he was even par after 11 holes, but then had three birdies in last seven as he gained shots on third, fourth and ninth for a 68.
Shiv Kapur shot a third round 75 and was tied 72nd at five-over 218. SSP Chowrasia had missed the cut.
