France striker Loic Remy is joining Olympique Marseille from Ligue 1 rivals Nice, the French champions said on Thursday.
The player was to have a medical later in the day before signing a contract, Marseille said in a statement on their website (www.om.net).
Marseille, who have lost their first two matches in the new season, desperately needed a striker since Senegal forward Mamadou Niang, last season's top Ligue 1 scorer with 18 goals, left them for Fenerbahce.
Remy, 23, has won two caps for France. He started at Olympique Lyon and left them for Racing Lens in 2007 before moving to Nice the following year. He scored 14 goals in Ligue 1 for Nice last season.
