Thu, Aug 19 10 10:40 PM

Indore, Aug 19 (PTI) Amid reports of keen tussle between Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and state minister Kailash Vijaywargiya for post of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association President, persons close to the former today came out with a statement clarifying issues raised by their opponents. The contest between the two is likely to be held on August 22, the day the annual general meeting of the association has been convened. MPCA Chairman M K Bhargava and Secretary Sanjay Jagdale, who were considered close to Scindia, today issued a statement without naming Vijaywargiya that confusion was being spread unnecessarily about neglect of Indore. The statement denied that in order to give more importance to Gwalior, the group led by Scindia was neglecting Indore. The Vijaywargiya camp has challenged the leadership of Scindia alleging that he was favouring Gwalior. Scindia has all along got elected unopposed in the MPCA and if there is no last minute compromise reached between the two camps, he would need to contest the election. Bhargava and Jagdale also highlighted that when there was a shortage of funds for the construction of Usha Raje Cricket Stadium at Indore, Scindia persuaded GAIL to donate Rs one crore for it and arranged Rs 88 lakh more from his friends. .
