Kolkata, Nov 6 (PTI) Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly will don Mohammedan Sporting colours and play in a soccer tournament next week, club president and Union Minister of State for Toursim Sultan Ahmed said here today. The former left-handed batsman has also agreed to be the brand ambassador for Mohammedan Sporting Platinum Jubilee Cup to be held during November 12 to 14, he said. Besides Mohammedan Sporting, the meet will feature the famous Sheffield F C from England and two other city giants Mohun Bagan and East Bengal. Sheffield F C will take on Mohun Bagan in the inaugural match on Nov 12 at Yuba Bharati Krirangan. This would be followed by the other match between East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting, where Ganguly, who used to play soccer during his school days at the St Xaviers College, would be seen in action. The competition is being organised to commemorate the platinum jubilee of the club''s first victory in the Calcutta Football League (CFL) way back in 1934, Ahmed told reporters. Mohammedan Sporting was the first Indian club to win this prestigious title. The tournament is confined with these four teams and would be played on a knock-out basis. The winners of the two matches will play the final on November 14.
