Lampard backs uncle Redknapp to be England's next boss

London, Nov 6 (ANI): England midfielder Frank Lampard has backed his uncle Harry Redknapp to succeed team boss Fabio Capello.

Capello set to relinquish the position after Euro 2012, and Tottenham's top of the line performance currently has brought Redknapp in the spotlight.

"If we're looking for a home-grown manager next, Harry's definitely the one. Six months ago people would have said Roy Hodgson, he was the favourite but not now," The Sun quoted Lampard, as saying.

"Harry's had such a great career. Look where he's taking Tottenham right now," he said.

"Who can argue with this week's performance against the European champions Inter Milan? And remember what he did at Portsmouth and West Ham before that," Lampard added.

Lampard, who played under Redknapp before he joined Chelsea, said: "Harry's the best choice. For me, it's got to be him."

"Obviously, I'd be very proud if he is the next England boss because of the family connection," he added. (ANI)
