Let ICC take call on DRS, not cricket boards: Smith

Johannesburg, Dec 2 (PTI) The BCCI''s refusal to have the Decision Review System during India''s tour of South Africa this month has not gone down well with host captain Graeme Smith, who feels DRS'' implementation should be decided by the ICC instead of individual boards. The referral system would not be used in the Test series starting here on December 16 as the BCCI is not in favour of it. "I think the ICC should manage it," Smith told the Afrikaans daily ''Beeld'' when asked about the development. "Currently it is left to the relevant cricket authorities and if one of the two does not agree, it is not used. The ICC should assume full responsibility for it, rather than leaving it in the hands of the home boards." India remains skeptical of the DRS but South Africa has used the system in its last two home Test series. "We had some difficulty with it the first time against Australia, but in the series against England we had mastered it," Smith said. Smith feels it would be difficult to assess the value of the DRS if it is not used regularly. The Proteas skipper said teams would struggle to get used to the system if it was used only occasionally.
