Chirag start favourite against Pune FC

Kolkata, Apr 8 (PTI) Riding on the series of success, Chirag United will clash with Pune FC in the ONGC I-League football tournament match to be played at Yuba Bharati Krirangan here tomorrow. A victory tomorrow will keep the Kolkata outfit in contention for the title as the national championship is now in the middle of the second stage. Chirag are at the third spot with 30 points from 19 outings while Mahindra United and Churchill Brothers are at the first and second spot with 37 and 35 points from 20 and 19 matches respectively. In the last three matches, Chirag won all the outings and will definitely go all out to derive the home advantage and earn full points tomorrow. Pune FC, on the other hand though won the last one against Mumbai FC 2-1, lost the previous two outings against Lazong FC and Air India by the identical score line of 1-0. To add to the woes of Pune side, their dependable skipper Subrata Paul won''t be able to play tomorrow being indisposed. On the other hand, Chirag will be able to field their top 11 as their opportunistic forward Edmilson will be joining Josimar at the upfront. Chirag''s defence will be led by Du and will have veteran Sandeep Nundy under the bar. The home side also have a solid midfield with Jayanta Sen, Jenson and Gauranga Biswas who have combined well in the earlier matches.
