Swann's place in England squad safe in spite of drink driving charge: Strauss

London, Apr.8 (ANI): England cricket captain Andrew Strauss has said that Graeme Swann's arrest on suspicion of drink-driving will not cost the off-spinner his place in the team.

Graeme Swann, 31, was stopped in Nottingham on Friday morning. He had reportedly been out celebrating his birthday.

Swann, who is ranked the third-best Test bowler in the world, had recently returned from England's successful tour of Bangladesh.

The Press Association quoted Strauss, as saying: "I don't think this (drink-driving) affects his selection. I haven't spoken to Swanny about it, it's obviously not an ideal situation. Probably, if he had his time again, he wouldn't have got himself into that situation. Everyone is capable of making a mistake." (ANI)
