By Our Chess Correspondent Dubai, Apr 8 (PTI) Tejas Ravichandran continued his giant-killing spree and joined compatriot Dronavalli Harika in the lead to boost his prospects of obtaining a Grandmaster''s norm in the 12th Dubai International Open chess tournament here. A mere 2165 ELO points in the current rating list, Tejas got the better of Grandmaster Martinez Josep Manuel Lopez of Spain to record his third successive victory over Grandmaster opponents. After the conclusion of the third round, Tejas emerged in a six-way tie at the top of the tables which also included former world junior girls'' champion Harika who played a fine game to beat David Arutinian of Georgia. Thanks to her splendid show, Harika too now has great chances to obtain GM norm here. Meanwhile, the more fancied Indians could not turn the tide in their favour and none of the four Indian Grandmasters in the fray could force a victory. World''s second youngest ever Grandmaster Parimarjan Negi could not do much against Konstantine Shanava of Georgia and settled for a draw, while 2008 world junior champion Abhijeet Gupta also split point with fellow Indian Sahaj Grover from a Berlin defence game. Grandmaster S Arun Prasad was shocked by Marina Makropoulou of Greece, playing with black. On the brighter side, GM norm aspirant M R Lalith Babu held Grandmaster Aleksej Aleksandrov of Belarus to an easy draw while R R Laxman got the same result against Merab Gagunashvili of Georgia. S Satyapragyan also improved his chances in the event after holding Austrian GM David Shengelia. After losing the second round, Ramnath Bhuvanesh and Eesha Karavade made a good comeback against lower ranked opponents.
