New Delhi, Oct 5 (PTI) Journalists at the Main Press Centre of the Commonwealth Games could not get any information related to the sporting event today as the Games Information System (GIS) crashed in the afternoon. The web-enabled GIS went down at around 2:45 pm and was not restored till 8 pm with officials saying they could not give a time-frame for its rectification. The GIS provides journalists at the MPC with results, schedule and several other information including short biographies and quotes. An official with the Games News Services said they could not provide the services to journalists as they did not get information from venues or organisers. Sources said the company, which was given the responsibility to operate the services, did not have the experience as it was earlier handling only providing results. "This is the price you pay for not conducting trials earlier. You have to have a system in place at least 12-18 months. Here it has not happened," the official said.
