Indian women spikers finish ninth in Volleyball in Asiad

Guangzhou, Nov 25 (PTI) Indian women spikers spanked Maldives in straight sets in the 9-10 placement round to sign off at the ninth place in the women volleyball competition of the Asian Games at the Guangwai Gymnasium here today. Indian eves didn''t give any chance to their rivals and completed a 25-4 25-5 25-7 thrashing of Maldives in a 53-minute match here. Priyanka Bora, who hit six aces, was the best scorer for India. She also had nine spikes and came up with two kill blocks to help her team. The women team registered only one win in the preliminary rounds and it came against Maldives. They lost to Chinese Taipei, North Korea, Japan and Kazakhstan in the preliminary round. India''s men''s team will play China for the fifth and sixth positions tomorrow.
