S S Ramaswamy Guangzhou, Nov 26 (PTI) After mesmerising the audience with a unique opening ceremony at the Haixinsha Island, the Asian Games organisers are planning to give the participating athletes a fitting send off with a two-hour closing ceremony at the same venue here tomorrow. There will be an Indian touch to the closing with Mumbai-based playback singer Ravi K Tripathi performing at the ceremony. Asian pop star and actor Rain (Jung Ji-Hoon) will also render three songs. Eight songs have been picked for the ceremony, representing the eastern, western, southern, northern and central parts of the continent, said music director Bian Liunian. "Combined with Chinese songs, they will become an integrated performance. We want to show that it is time for Asia, it is the sky of Asia, those are songs of Asia," he explained. As in the opening, the closing of the Games will also involve the water bodies and the ceremony would commence with a giant chandelier emerging from the deep-water area of the stage with a sail-shaped red curtain on screens behind. The organisers also plan to use the cauldron, which was lit at the venue at the opening ceremony, together with the chandelier on the stage and the big screens shaped like sails. "Never before have we seen a cauldron in the middle of a stage. We will make use of this cauldron and make the stage a special one together with the chandelier and the big screens shaped like sails," said chief script writer of the ceremony Han Chunqi. "We want people to regard the closing ceremony as a warm, romantic and dream-like serenade," he added. "To make a difference from the opening ceremony, we want to create the biggest opera house (of a 1,500-strong chorus) between heaven and earth," said chief stage designer Miao Peiru. "These people will not only sing but also do some dramatic performances," he added.
